Membership of “Veteran” Schools

Schools that were formed, and have been operating, since before the formation of PAI, shall be known as “VETERAN” Schools. These Veteran schools shall be eligible for membership of PAI, subject their meeting the following minimum criteria:

  1. The school should have been formed before 1st June 2009. Proof of the same, by way of Income tax return / registration under any class of business as sole proprietorship / partnership / Pvt. Ltd. Co. to be made available to PAI as evidence.
  2. The school shall have a Chief Instructor who has a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the field of Paragliding / Powered Paragliding.
  3. The school shall have at least one Assistant Instructor who has at least one year of teaching experience and has minimum 50 hours of air time which is logged in a logbook.
  4. The school must have certified, student rated equipment which is deemed safe for training. Such safety certification should be from a recognized body like EN, LTF or the likes.
  5. School must have at least one Instructor with a life saving / first aid certificate issued by a recognised Authority like the Red Cross or equivalent. If a school does not have such a certification then the school will be given a period of not more than 90 days to get the instructor certified.
  6. School must have at least two stretchers, first aid kit, and a suitable vehicle for transportation of an injured person.
  7. School must provide a radio communication set to all its students during training.
  8. Each School should submit a report on their training pattern, rating system, and paperwork maintained relating to students or their training methodology.
  9. Each School must be inspected and certified by 2 members of the PAI Managing Committee. The Managing committee will submit an objective report of their findings relating to the school and its operations to the President of PAI. This certification will be done after the above mentioned documents are submitted by the school.
  10. Each School needs to submit an annual report, latest by the 30th day of August, containing the following details.
    • Courses conducted during the year (P1, P2, EP, CP, etc.)
    • Names of the students trained in the courses

Membership of “Veteran” Clubs

A flying club is defined as an institution, for profit or otherwise, which engages in flying activities for paragliders and powered paragliders. Clubs are not allowed to conduct any training courses whatsoever, but are however allowed to conduct other flying activities such as group cross country flying or expeditions. If a club also wishes to train students then they shall have to follow all the rules and guidelines set for schools as well.

  1. The club should have been formed before 1st June 2009. Proof of the same, by way of Income tax return / registration under any class of business or Societies Act, to be made available to PAI as evidence.
  2. Club must have a qualified and experienced Administrator with a minimum of 5 years experience in PG/PPG.
  3. Club must have at least one Administrator with a life saving / first aid certificate issued by a recognised Authority like the Red Cross or equivalent.
  4. Club must have at least two stretchers, first aid kit, and a suitable vehicle for transportation of an injured person.
  5. Club must be inspected and certified by 2 members of the PAI Managing Committee.
  6. A club shall operate only for recreational solo flying for its members. It shall not be entitled to teach PG/PPG or to operate Tandem flights, unless it fulfils all the criteria stipulated for Schools.
  7. A club shall be independently responsible for selecting or allowing pilots to join them. This will involve evaluation of the pilot’s skill and judgement.
  8. Any club or School that infringes any of the above minimum requirements, after having been granted membership, shall be liable to have its membership revoked, at its own cost, risk and expense.
