Bulbulay Dara, Gangtok Sikkim

Bulbulay Dara

Located in Gangtok, Bulbulay Dara takeoff stands at approx 2200 m ASL. With Gangtok city on its left and the stunning Kangchenjunga on the right, flying here is an absolute bliss and offers a completely different view and experience in the humbling Himalayan mountains. On a clear day, pilots would fly as if they were flying for a poster picture with the snow clad mountains in the back draft.

The site was discovered by team pilots of SPASCS - PAI's affiliated State Association in Sikkim. Ace Indian pilot Debu Choudhury has test flown this site and has technically assessed it for PAI.

Khangchendzonga is the 3rd tallest peak in the world located at the border of India and Nepal. It is often said that the first rays of the sun falling on Indian landmass are received by Mount Kanchenjunga. So even if you are not flying, it is a treat for your eyes to experience this phenomena.
